Meet The Team

Working as a mental health nurse for 10 years has been my passion. I believe nature and animal contact has the power to facilitate recovery. Supporting rescued animals provides purpose. Nurturing the human animal bond connects us to nature and is a two way process.Inspired by the SCAS course “Companion Animal Interventions in Therapeutic Practice”, I have developed Noah’s ART to provide opportunities to bring nature, animals and people together is a safe supportive environment. Social isolation has a devastating effect on people’s lives. By connecting with a rescued animal, even the most vulnerable individuals can feel they are helping another. And in helping our animals, clients note self-esteem is enhanced.

For 7 years I have struggled with depression, but was unable to afford the treatment I needed. With my self-esteem at rock bottom I began to give up; then I found myself in pets at home... where I met Marley the bunny! As soon as I saw his little face and floppy ears I knew he had to be mine! Ever since that day the change in my mood has been tenfold, he gives me a reason to get up in the morning and be happy. Even just watching him play and hop around is uplifting and relaxing. Since then our family has grown with the addition of Simba!(pictured)

I know first-hand that the animal-human bond is vital and can save lives; this is why when I found Noah's A.R.T I just HAD to get involved! I am so proud to be part of this organisation as we continue to make lives better for humans and animals alike!

I'm Tom, Sharon's son. I am a writer with a bachelor’s degree from Salford University. I used to front a semi-professional band. I have also had my dealings with mental health from anxiety to depression, but I always came home to a house full of animals and loving family. I think that is why I am still here. I joined Noah's A.R.T. to help my mother who tries her hardest to help everyone else. I joined because I want to share that feeling of support and hope to those who need it most. We are all denizens of the Earth and we all rely on one another, from animals to plants. I think we have forgotten that and it is to our detriment. I hope we can help in some small way to restore equilibrium between nature and ourselves, and make everyone's life brighter.

I've known Sharon now about 11 years and for the past 4-5 years she's been telling me about setting up Noah's A.R.T. From the start I knew it was a great idea, it just made sense, which is why I'm so pleased I can be a part of it. I love it.
